ProGammon 96
This program plays a very strong game of backgammon. It was
written using SAS/C version 6.5 and is designed to run under 2.04
or higher. I also have an AGA 640 x 480 multisync version available.
Game Play:
To move a stone just click once on the stone and then once on the
spot where you want it to go. If you did it right then the stone
should move to the new location or else a message will appear to help
you out.
If you roll doubles ( i.e. two 3's ) then instead of getting two
moves of 3 you get four moves of 3.
If you can't make a move just double click on the dice. If you
click on a stone and then decide that you can't make a move simply
click once on the dice and your move will be forfeited. If you
select a stone by mistake then just click on that same stone to
start your move over again.
Once you get all your stones home you can remove them by double
clicking on them.
There is a game speed adjustment located in the color adjustment
window.
I have also added a version in which all 15 stones start off on
the center bar and you have to get the stones back on the board
before you can start to move them. Just select BAR in the menus
and then select New Game to play this version.
There is also a PRO flag that you can toggle on in the menus.
This flag slightly alters the way that the AMIGA brings stones into
it's home area. The AMIGA plays slightly better with this flag on.
If you select SAVE in the color adjustment window then your game
preferences will be saved to a 26 byte file called GammonData in the
current directory. This program also keeps track of the AMIGA's
winning percentage in this file so if you want this feature then
remember to click on SAVE before the end of the first game.
Freeware:
This game is free but I would sure appreciate a post card after
about 50 games with the AMIGA AVG statistic so I can keep track of
how my program is doing.
